Thank you, very much appreciated. The Book Of Dead Children can be viewed in full at www.bodc.co.uk
The idea being that I quickly draw two pages on evenings when that's possible and just draw what came to mind. A lot of the images ended up being from local folklore and dreams. Strangely, a couple of the images and characters have been repeated elsewhere...completely coincidentally. An example being the character of The Watcher who embodies the presence of death, usually around children. He isn't malevolent and is very patient. He almost serves as a reminder of death. Since drawing him, a couple of people have said they had seen him when they were seriously ill and I found references to an identical being in literature, art and music videos and even documentaries on youtube but he is referred to as The Hat Man or Slender Man.
The book is coming up to 8 years old now and I have been working on a sequel based on nightmares but this time I wait for the images to come to me rather than bring them to 'life' in predetermined sketching sessions.
Thank you for your enquiring, I hope that may be of interest ! Gary Alford Art
